Thayir Pachadi

Thayir Pachadi

Thayir pachadi (raitha) is the most common yogurt-based dish prepared almost in every part of India. We can prepare thayir pachadi using cooked or raw vegetables, spiced up with black pepper, chopped green chillies or red chilli powder. Raitha is usually served as a side for bland flatbreads like chappathi & stuffed paratha and spicy rice dishes like biryani, tomato rice, etc.

Venn-poosani Thayir pachadi:

Venn-poosani (ash gourd or white pumpkin) thayir pachadi is one of my favorite thayir pachadi prepared in our house. First we need to steam the diced pumpkin, then prepare a coconut paste and mix them both into whisked curd as shown below. We can also prepare the tempering made in coconut oil and pour into this pachadi.

Vellarikai Thayir Pachadi:

Cucumber raitha (vellarikai thayir pachadi) is the best way to include cucumber in our diet. It helps keep our body cool & hydrated during summer. Vellarikai thayir pachadi can be prepared quickly & easily as shown below.

  2. We love cucumber salad! Making it with yogurt is a great healthier option than the Miracle Whip my husband likes to use!

  3. I absolutely love cucumber raitha and I’ve always tried to replicate it, but now I’ve found your recipe!D o you think I could grate the cucumber with a coarse grater, instead of chopping it?

      Thanks for dropping by.
If you use grated cucumber, raitha would become watery, so it is better to cut into small cubes.
