Indian Popsicles

I remember my childhood days indulging in ice pops (Popsicle) every summer vacation. Nowadays those ice pops are replaced by ice cream and we all really miss them so much. So here are the recipes for those forgotten ice pops that are truly Indian!

I have prepared our childhood favorite ice popsicles namely kulfi ice, thenga (coconut) ice, semiya (vermecilli) ice & rose ice. These home-made ice pops are so flavorful and do not contain any other additives (except rose ice). Most importantly they are easy to prepare at home.

First I have prepared condensed milk (by boiling milk until it was reduced to half and added sugar into it) and kept aside; instead you can use store-bought condensed milk.

For Kulfi ice:

  1. Home-made condensed milk – 75 ml
  2. Chopped pistachios – 2 tsp
  3. Few Saffron strands soaked in hot water
  4. Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp

For Coconut Ice:

  1. Condensed milk – 75 ml
  2. Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
  3. Powdered Cardamom – 1/4 tsp

For Vermicelli Ice:

  1. Condensed milk – 75 ml
  2. Cooked vermicelli – 2 tbsp

For Rose Ice:

  1. Condensed milk – 75 ml
  2. Rose Syrup – 1/4 tsp

  • Mix the ingredients for each Popsicle, pour into separate moulds and freeze them overnight.

  • Serve them cold after removing from their moulds.

Enjoy this summer!
